No one sticks up for Basingstoke.

Its given us Liz Hurely, Burberry and Tanita Tikaram.

Oh yes. And a nice smiley block Biff.

Why did you make the Basingstoke comment then?

Bigottry. Think about it. Think about a stick of rock with the world bigot running all the way through. See these people for what they truly are, the MEANING behind their wolds. In this lies human salvation

That doesn't even make sense? Were you high when you wrote it?

Waterloo, you're first class loony.

why is that?

Oh yes, no one gives a monkeys about the mayor of Basingstoke who, unlike the mayor of London, does not represent over 10 million people and administer the environment where a good chunk of the UK economy is produced.

Good point though Biff

I think its very london-centric.

I don't remember a forum being created when the Mayorship of Basingstoke was up for grabs.

If only life were simple.

I am against cheating on wives and am in favour of stoning men and women for adultery.

But on balance I hate the politically correct left even more.

So Boris still gets my vote.

Biff,

I was pointing out that you are commenting as if somehow you are not yourself 100% self serving filth, which we know from whatb you choose to write and lie that you are.

Oh, and your old lie about marriage vs "partner" vs "missus"

I recall you told us your indian partner of many years standing. I bet no marriage goes down well with the (not) in-laws eh Biff? Still, you keep the power eh? Makes up for the "other things" a bit I expect, in your mind anyway

Waterloo,

at least he had the decency to marry her, unlike you Biff

What on earth are you on about? You think its fine to cheat on your partner so long as you have married her? Some moral high ground you are taking there.

Boris is married to Marina Wheeler (now Johnson).

Whilst married to her he had an affair with Petronella Wyatt at the Spectator. The affair lasted several years.

He has not married her, he remains married to Marina, the wife he'd cheated on.

Apparently such behaviour is just fine and dandy in the Waterloo household where perversely being married is a mitigating factor when having an affair with someone else? Just a shame she had to do it with a frenchman though eh?

Boris is a buffoon.

The Evening Standard focussed on the fact that Ken has 5 kids by 3 women, 5 kids he supports, is a father to, and his current partner knows all about. IE no secrets.

Boris cheated on his wife for years at the Spectator.

GB's performance yesterday was P- iss poor. He kept saying ''I am the man to lead'' -exactly the wrong thing to say . It sounds so arrogant and thick.

T'ful writes:
Boris is a buffoon ssaines and it is a condemnation of the Labour leadership and their policies that has resulted in his election as Mayor of London!

A few observations: Yes, I've seen Boris on TV in some of my latter visits. A buffoon he may be...and you are absolutely right, he ascends by default, not design.

Livingstone, for all his peccadilloes, was well respected abroad, US right-wing rant sites besides. Livingstone was certainly respected by the New York crowd, and that included sensible Republicans.

Boris has actually extended a hand to Livingstone, and Livingstone's speech was very touching and gracious. What sunk Livingstone was not his own record...it was Labour's.

Boris does smoke cigars! I knew it! Not only that, the Tarik Aziz cigar case was quite an affair. I dug on the matter.

All of that being said, we'll just have to wait and see how Boris performs. Is he a clown? Evidently. What I do find curious is how a newspaper like the Independent (which I've truly learned to loathe *editorially* of late, they are so fugging naive...or pandering...take your choice...but then, most UK rags are now, Times/Guardian/Telegraph included...a free CD of the Kneejerk's latest release and paint-by-numbers Eurostar ticket included in this issue) can project his being Cameron's nemesis and eventual downfall.

Who the hell knows? What gets even more bizarre is the Brit Press projecting on the US political scene.

Sports and News meld in the UK mindset. Even the FT is slipping badly of late.
